Education in Franklin Lakes New Jersey

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade attend the Franklin Lakes Public Schools. There are three K-5 elementary schools in the district — Colonial Road School, High Mountain Road School, Woodside Avenue School — and Franklin Avenue Middle School which covers grades 6 - 8.

Students in grades 9 - 12 attend the schools of the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District, a regional district consisting of two four-year public high schools serving students from Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Wyckoff. Students attend either Indian Hills High School in Oakland or Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes.

Local Government in Franklin Lakes New Jersey

The Council consists of the Mayor and six Council members elected at large in the Borough, all of whom are elected and take office in the manner provided by law. The terms of office of the Mayor and Councilmen commence on January 1 following their election. All council meetings are held at the Borough Hall located on DeKorte Drive, formerly Municipal Drive.

Franklin Lakes New Jersey Fire Department

Franklin Lakes Fire Company shall mean the incorporated volunteer fire company officially known and designated as the "Borough of Franklin Lakes Fire Department, Incorporated". Continuation as Previously Established. The Fire Department of the Borough as heretofore created and established, coextensive with the territorial limits of the Borough is hereby continued.

The Mayor shall appoint a committee, consisting of two (2) members of the Borough Council, to be known as the "Fire Committee". The Fire Committee shall have full charge and control of the Fire Department and the fire equipment of the Borough. The officers of the Fire Department shall be responsible to the Fire Committee for all firefighting activities and for the repair, upkeep, care and control of all equipment.

Franklin Lakes Volunteer Ambulance Corps

The Franklin Lakes Volunteer Ambulance Corps is comprised of a dedicated group of individuals who live or work in Franklin Lakes. They unselfishly dedicate their time and energy to provide ambulance service & first aid care to the Borough of Franklin Lakes and other municipalities without cost. The corps also provides standby coverage and first aid personnel when requested by the Police or Fire Departments, in the event of a fire, disaster, civil disorder and for functions held within our town. Our mission is to provide to our community timely, caring and professional emergency medical service. All volunteer members are certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and are required to complete 120 hours of initial training and 48 hours of training every 3 years to maintain their EMT qualifications. This training is free. The Ambulance Corp is located on Bender Court across the street from the Fire Dept. building.
