Oakland New Jersey

Oakland residents are justifiably pleased with their excellent athletic and social programs for both adults and children, as they enjoy some of the finest and most extensive facilities in the area. There are nine tennis courts, ten baseball fields, a football field, plus several soccer fields. Four public swimming beaches as well as many privately owned and operated beaches are available to residents. The Ramapo Mountain Lakes Country Club is maintained for the exclusive use of Oakland residents. Oakland New Jersey Properties The club offers catering facilities, tennis courts, a swimming area, and is often the scene of community gatherings. Superior educational benefits are afforded by four elementary schools, two parochial schools, and Indian Hills High School. Whatever one's preference, Oakland can provide a resource of enjoyment for the entire family.

Education in Oakland New Jersey

Students in grades K through 8 attend the Oakland Public Schools. There are three K-5 elementary schools in the district — Dogwood Hill School (311 students), Heights Elementary School (372 students) and Manito Elementary School (415 students) — and Valley Middle School which serves 558 students in grades 6 - 8.

Students in grades 9 - 12 attend the schools of the Ramapo- Indian Hills Regional High School District, a regional district consisting of two four-year public high schools serving students from Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Wyckoff. Students attend either Indian Hills High School in Oakland or Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes

Oakland New Jersey Police Department

A group of friendly full time police officers and several reserve officers work around the clock to keep Oakland one of the safest communities in New Jersey. The officers work 12 hour shifts, and handle varied calls for service within the jurisdictional limits of the Town of Oakland.

Oakland New Jersey Fire Department

The majority of New Jersey town are protected entirely by a "volunteer" fire department. Generally, only larger municipalities have a career Fire Department, staffed with paid firefighters whose job is to fight fires. Often even these towns are supplemented with volunteers. The commitment of a volunteer firefighter is a serious one, and many more hours are sacrificed than the hours involved in fighting fires. Training, meetings, stand-by duties, and even fundraising are all parts of the job that people volunteer for, without being paid or compensated for their time.

Oakland New Jersey Transportation

Major roads through Oakland include Interstate 287, Route 208 and U.S. Route 202. There is no commuter rail service in Oakland, though commuter bus service to New York City is available.
